China - Longtou (Guigang City, Guangxi) goldmine rehabilitation / 01

Longtou Hill Gold Mine, a national-grade gold mine, has been mined for over 10 years; excessive mining has resulted in severe vegetation destroy, soil erosion and environmental pollution. Mining activities in China are a major cause of offsite sediment flows that are now being corrected by using the Vetiver System. In this instance a project under the supervision Mr. Xia Hanping, Vetiver Champion of China and Deputy Mayor of Guigang City, started the rehabilitation of this site in June 2004.
